About the Campaign

Why Civility? Why Now—Especially in August?

August is National Civility Month, a timely reminder that respect and accountability are not just personal values—they’re business imperatives. In today’s fast-paced, hybrid-first workplaces, tension, burnout, and disengagement are at record highs.

Civility Management Solutions (CivilityMS)—a woman- and veteran-owned consulting firm based in Greenbelt, MD—is leading a nationwide campaign this August to help organizations confront the growing “culture debt” that’s quietly costing U.S. employers over $2 billion per day.

Our Civility First Campaign delivers practical, measurable, and leadership-focused tools that reframe civility as a competitive business strategy, not just a soft skill.

The C-Suite Civility Pledge

Launched by Civility Management Solutions during National Civility Month (August 2025), the pledge challenges CEOs and senior executives to make civility a visible part of how they lead—especially in high-stakes, hybrid, and high-pressure environments.
By signing the pledge, signees affirm their responsibility to:

  • Lead with empathy and integrity
  • Foster a culture where every voice is respected
  • Hold themselves and others accountable for civil behavior
  • Take proactive steps to recognize, repair, and prevent harm
  • Embed civility into organizational norms, not just compliance policies

Pledge Statement

As a CEO or executive leader, I pledge to model and promote civility in every aspect of my organization.

I commit to:
✅ Leading with empathy and integrity
✅ Creating safe spaces for diverse voices
✅ Holding myself and others accountable for respectful behavior
✅ Repairing harm when it occurs—and preventing it when I can
✅ Making civility a leadership priority, not an afterthought

I recognize that civility isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s the foundation of trust, innovation, and long-term success.
