Congratulations to our CEO Laurie Sayles for being named Chair of the Women Veterans Business Coalition.

The Coalition seeks to provide input from women who have served the nation and are building businesses. We will address the concerns of these business owners who seek to increase their access to federal and commercial contracts and advocate for better healthcare for women veterans. Currently, two million women veterans live in the United States and comprise nearly 20% of serving military personnel and 10% of the veteran population. By 2040, the women veteran population is projected to grow to 18%. As the number of women serving in the military has increased, so has the number of women veterans who start businesses. As of 2012, 400,000 veteran women-owned businesses accounted for 3.9% of all women-owned firms in the U.S., contributing $17.9 billion in receipts.

“It is with great anticipation that we launch this coalition to provide a critical advocacy voice on behalf of women veterans who run businesses. Our unique perspective on business issues and resources available to women who have served this country should be included in policy decisions and this coalition will enable us to speak with one voice,” said Ms. Sayles.  We invite women veteran entrepreneurs to become part of the coalition and look forward to working in a bipartisan fashion with elected officials who want to support these businesses.
